Service Description

This blood test is an FDA-approved test that screens for prior exposure to tuberculosis (TB). It requires a single blood draw, it can be used as an alternative to the skin test or in cases that the person has a history of a positive skin test (PPD) to follow up their health status and also can be used as an alternative to yearly chest x-rays. This test can help differentiate between a false positive reading and a false negative skin test. When the Quantiferon Gold blood test result is positive or indeterminate you will likely be required by your Primary Care Provider to get a chest x-ray to confirm that you do not have active tuberculosis. A negative result usually means that no further work up is needed. We will draw your blood and send out to the laboratory for analysis.
